Another great win for the mighty Redskins. I can't wait to go to school tomorrow.

Led by the strong running by Clinton Portis, the Redskins came back from a 14-0 first-quarter deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Portis churned out 145 yards on 29 carries and added a 4-yard touchdown run.

Zorn wins Motorola NFL Coach Of the Week



Jim Zorn is the Motorola NFL Coach of the Week for games played on Sept. 28-29, the NFL announced.

Skins Victorious in Dallas 26 to 24

Skins fans everywhere are celebrating this evening as Washington went to Dallas and played their best game this season. For the third game in a row the offense posted 24 points or better (even with 2 touchdowns being called back due to penalties). Jason Campbell seems to be grasping the new offense and making the most of his opportunities. Clinton Portis turned in a strong performance with over 100 yards rushing this afternoon. And Santana Moss also had an excellent day on the grid iron. This offense is really coming together and continues to improve game to game.

Greg Blache's defense continues to impress. Anchored by London Fletcher everyone is playing their part - kudos to the burgundy and gold for keeping this part of the team in tact with the switch to Jim Zorn as head coach. The secondary played well and didn't allow Romo, Witten and T.O. to kill them with the pass. And upfront the team really shut down Marian Barber. A big shout out once again to Chris Horton who has an incredible nose for the ball - he had another interception this afternoon.

So now our team is 3 and 1 and we set our sites on the Philadelphia Eagles. Hail to the Redskins! What an incredible start to the season.

Redskins beat Cardinals 24 to 17

It has been a little while but I am back and ready to roll and represent the burgundy and gold. Last week the Redskins began played a full 60 minutes and came away with a victory in the 4th quarter. They really gave the hometown fans something to cheer about. Clinton Portis ran for almost 100 yards and had 2 TDs. Jason Campbell played a solid game and showed that he has the ability to be an accurate passer and to hit big plays when he needs to. Chris Cooley was used much better than the opening game against the NY Giants. And a rookie, Chris Horton, had a defensive hat trick with 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery. He looks like he might really be a bright spot for the Redskins this year.

The momentum from last week's game carried over into this week's game and the Redskins came out strong this week against the Arizona Cardinals. They were up 10 to 0 at one point and went into half time up 10 to 7. Once again Jason Campbell was impressive in the first couple of drives this afternoon.

In the beginning of the second half, it seemed like the Redskins were ripe for a mental let down and the team and the stadium both seemed to be somewhat flat. But the Redskins held the Cardinals to a field goal on defense and then responded with a touch down of their own.

In the second half, each time the Cardinals tested the Redskins, the Redskins had an answer.

On the defense - they have really played stellar ball in the 2008 - 2009 campaign. Hats off to our new defensive coordinator Greg Blache for having his men ready for these important early games. The addition of Jason Taylor at defensive end has been tremendous in adding pressure on opposing teams' quarterbacks and Carter, Griffin and Golston have been continued their solid play on the defense. This afternoon for the second time in 3 games they have held the opposing offense to less than 20 points. And for the second game in a row the defense led the opposing team in takeaways.

So the burgundy and gold is now 2 and 1 and they find themselves in probably the toughest division (NFC East) in the NFL. The week is Dallas week and our boys travel to Texas to take on the hated Cowboys. This will be our toughest test yet with all of the history that these two teams share. The Redskins will be coming off of these 2 victories and this should be a great game. I am, of course, predicting a Redskins victory in big D. Let's go boys - HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1968 Olympics (Past)

What happened on October 16, 1968, in Mexico City's Olympic stadium will always be remembered as one of the most controversial events in the history of the Games.

On the podium for the 200m stood two black Americans, Tommie Smith on the highest step and John Carlos two steps below.

Wearing black socks and black berets, they stood beside the silver medal-winner, Australian Peter Norman, who also sported a badge on his chest in support of their cause - the American civil rights movement.

As "The Star-Spangled Banner" began to play, Smith and Carlos lowered their heads and raised black-gloved fists to the sky - the right for Smith, the left for Carlos, in accordance with the salute of the Black Panthers activist group.
